Visiting Kuala Lumpur City Centre & Petronas Towers
When I was researching what to do and see during my visit to Kuala Lumpur, it was a no-brainer to visit the Petronas Towers, which were part of a large complex called KLCC.
Ok, but what else is in this KLCC complex, after some googling, it seems there is a shopping mall, a park with a lake with a fountain show, and an aquarium complete with shark tank with a tunnel running through it.
As for KLCC, it has to mean something. "Kuala Lumpur" Would cover the first two, but the CC, not a clue what that means, and made a mental note to Google it later. Then, while leaving the hotel, I overheard someone talking about the "Kuala Lumpur City Centre". Doh comes to mind, and on reflection, it is very obvious.
Anyhow, on my first day in Kuala Lumpur, which I will refer to as KL from this point on, I headed down to the KLCC, which, according to Google Maps, was about a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
After managing to make it over the road alive, and yes, it's that bad when it comes to the traffic!!, I will call it a 10-minute walk to the entrance of the mall.

Heading into the mall, my timing must have been ideal, if really accidental, it seems I arrived at the end of the Indian Diwali/Deepavali festival and the mall was decorated to celebrate.
Impressive decorations, and off on a slight tangent, I have always wanted to visit Little India in Singapore during Diwali, which I almost did by accident this year. Oh well, next year is not too far away.
First thing to do was to go for a wander, and not for window shopping, which is not really my thing, but looking for where to get breakfast from.
As for what, well, I usually go for a croissant plain or chocolate, depending on the mood.
In the KLCC Mall, there is a Marks and Spencer store, which, from personal experience in both Singapore and Hong Kong, has killer croissants. But after wandering around, this one did not, no idea why.
That was a bust, but all was not lost as the Isetan Food Market, which had just what I was looking for, and at a good price.

So now, fuelled up with breakfast, it's time to see what else there is to see at the KLCC. First on the list is a wander around the park.
The park looks impressive, with the large lake and fountains, and after talking to a helpful security guard who reminded me about the colourful light show with the fountains after dark. So decision made, later in the day I will be back with a tripod and DSLR.
Anyhow, I was here to see the Petronas Towers and the impressive Skybridge, so here's the first of the money shots, this one taken from a footbridge in the KLCC park.
First impressions, as a surprise to no one, are WOW, that's an impressive view. Note the bridge between the two towers, that's the Skybridge, and it is a must-visit on this trip.
A must-visit, yes, but after some digging and getting very distracted by other attractions, I left visiting the Skybridge until my last day, which turned out to be a terrible idea, given you needed to book tickets in advance and it was a weekend. In other words, zero chance 😧

The above was the first money shot, but later the same day, I took the following shot after dark, from a little further in the park.
The towers look even more impressive after dark, as does the lighting in the park. Anyhow, while in the park, I took some more, trying to get some good shots of the colourful fountain show.
The above shot was the last one I could get, as both my batteries were depleted. Oh well, tomorrow is another day, although this is a relatively short visit.
It's getting late, and it's been a very long day, as I only got off a plane earlier in the day. So now it's a short walk back to the hotel.
