Gardens by the Bay - Rainy Day.

Not good, but not unexpected; I woke up to more rain, although not as heavy as yesterday, so again, Sentosa was not a good move. Plan B was to head for the Gardens by the Bay and try Sentosa tomorrow.

For those who do not know, the Gardens by the Bay are two massive domes containing various environments and plants from around the world, all set in landscaped gardens. And yes, this includes the huge supertrees commonly seen in the tourist ads for Singapore.

With the weather being interesting, rather than walking, I decided to take the MRT, which, although not ideal for me (I like walking), did mean I could get there without getting drowned.

Head for Bay Front MRT; from there, it is a short walk to the gardens and surprise, the rain had stopped, although looking at the sky, no idea for how long.

My plan for the gardens was to visit the Supertrees, wander around the gardens, and finally see the domes; however, with the pouring rain, I only managed to do some short walks on the way to the domes, in a most welcome break in the rain. Just look at the sky in the above photos to see what I was dealing with.

Ok, moving on to the domes, and after a relatively long queue for tickets, ticket in hand, it's time to head for the Flower dome, and after that head to Cloud Forest

The flower dome is divided into multiple habitats from different parts of the world, which should be interesting, with some real photo opportunities.

Rather than waffle on, here are some photos.

While on the subject, it's time to come clean: most of these photos have had some Photoshop work done, usually just colour saturation, cropping, and, in some cases, people removal. And yes, I remove people from some of my photos; it's just personal preference.

Interestingly, they have added wood carvings and various statues to enhance the experience; this one has the whole Alice in Wonderland thing going on, which is interesting as succulents surround it.

Talking of succulents, these were some of the more interesting ones. And no, I am not an expert in these things, unless you are thinking of killing them, as I am a well-known plant killer, being able to kill the unkillable.

With the succulents below, the names came from Google reverse image search, so if they are wrong, let me know, and I will update them.

Not sure why a dragon, but regardless, it's a stunning carving, not that I know what it's made of; it just looks like a wood carving. And yes, these carvings and statues will be the subject of many more photos.

While researching this page, every reference to this specific sculpture talks about it not being in the Flower Dome, but rather in the Cloud Forest one.

In this one, it's good to see that they do not take things that seriously. And to me it is way better than the usual do not touch or keep out of the garden signs.

This next one is right out of Winnie the Pooh, and from what I have been able to find out, it is part of a larger art installation.

This one from the South African Garden shows some sort of gazelle, and yes, it's the first one of these carvings, which makes sense to me.

Yes, this is another one that makes zero sense to me; however, it's just very well done, and the last one before moving to the other dome.

After some research, it seems this is a bronze sculpture by French artist Bruno Catalano, and is called La Famille de Voyageurs or in English A Travelling Family, more details can be found on the gardens website

Now moving on to the Cloud Forest dome.

From what various people told me, I expected the Cloud Forest to be good, but upon entering the dome, the first thing I saw was this. Wow

This next one was taken from one of the high walkways; the view is worth it, but it's just not one for those with a fear of heights.

I will add more photos as time allows, but it goes without saying that the Cloud Forest is impressive, very impressive.

Remember, I talked about the display area in the Cloud Forest dome, so far I have seen two of these displays, the first being for the Avatar Movie, and more recently, the newest Jurassic World movie.

When I walked into the Cloud Forest dome back in August 2025, the first thing that hit me was the animatronic dinosaurs, which it seems were part of a display centred on the newest Jurassic World movie.

Yes, animatronics, which all of a sudden turned today's good visit to the domes into a potentially stunning one, where the inner geek can run free.

The standout was the very noisy animatronic T-Rex, which drew quite a crowd. Just check the first photo to see what I mean about crowds, then came the other with a dinosaur in a transport container.

Ok, I could not help myself, so after a Google reverse image search, it seems the dinosaur in the transport is actually a Stygimoloch

First comes the T-Rex which was very impressive and popular, just check the number of people attracted to this one. And yes, this photo came from the video I shot with my Osmo 5 video camera.

Finally, a dinosaur trying to escape from a transport, and no, not from a video this time.

These were the standouts from this display, and yes, I would have liked to get much closer to see how the animatronics worked, but nope, I did ask someone who looked like they were part of the display and not dome staff, but as expected, there is no access.
